Wood Joints

Once a term in for my Year 7 pupils I like to present a project that takes them back to the roots of DT with some woodworking. It is a great opportunity to expand their knowledge with the hand tools that consistently make their wait into our other projects over the year with a great emphasis on accuracy. In their case, they create 4 unique wood joints to make a wooden box, and while the purpose of this box has changed over the years the outcome remains the same. To further this they are also briefly introduced to Adobe Illustrator and creating vector files that can then be used for laser cutting, which in this case was used to help create an acrylic lid that could slide in and out of their wooden boxes.
